Tony Elumelu Foundation’s $100m Entrepreneurship Programme

Guul Group to support The Tony Elumelu Foundation’s $100m Entrepreneurship Programme Applications in Somalia and Somaliland for the 4th cycle.

On January 1, 2018, The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) has begun accepting applications for the FOURTH CYCLE of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme. Through the application, TEF is identifying outstanding African entrepreneurs who have start-ups or business ideas with the potential to grow. The final 1,000 selected in each yearly-cycle are provided training, mentoring, funding and network access to support their business ambitions.

GUUL GROUP (GG) will support, promote and encourage Somali and Arabic speaking entrepreneurs; youth, women and those from rural areas with brilliant ideas to apply.

 In the 2017 cycle TEF received only 7 applications from Somalia and Somaliland In order to fully democratise this opportunity, GG will spearhead this prospect; assisting TEF to ensure, the most promising future business leaders are aware of this opportunity. TEF Entrepreneurship programme would benefit many; economic development and job creation so for this cycle TEF and GG will be targeting 100 applications from Somalia and Somaliland.

In just 3 years, 3,000 entrepreneurs across Africa have created tens of thousands of jobs in the process – in the Agriculture industry alone, they are responsible for over 15,000 jobs. The Programme is open to citizens and legal residents of all African countries with businesses based in Africa, less than three years old, including new start-ups. Guul Group invites and encourages as many Somali entrepreneurs apply including those from the diaspora. An opportunity to benefit from a 12-week boot camp, mentoring, access to online resources, networking with entrepreneurs from across Africa and seed capital, to bring ideas to life. 1. The business must be based in Africa
2. The business must be for profit
3. The business must be 0-3 years old
4. Applicants must be at least 18 and a legal resident or citizen of an African country

Guul Group will work with TEF, not just to promote this entrepreneurship programme to the Somali entrepreneurs but the wider African entrepreneur to further contribute to the realisation of a New Africa, a thriving self-reliant continent.

Guul invites Somali Entrepreneurs, Investors, Corporate companies, Academia, Trade Groups, Women’s Associations, Foundations, Chambers of commerce and Ministries to join the effort and support this initiative in empowering Africa’s entrepreneurs!

Programme launch: GG will organise a workshop with TEF to explain the programme and its benefits as well as how to apply; dates and location to be confirmed.

Guul Accelerator’s facilities will be used as a hub for applications where computers, fast internet and support will be available until the deadline – 1st March 2018.
